EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR TREATMENT
Botox FAQs
It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected directly into the muscles between your brows. It tends to be more impactful for those moderate to severe frown lines between your brows which form over time as the result of muscle activity.
BOTOX® Cosmetic should not be used in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s) and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation. Botox should also not be used by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.
Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you 'had work done.' The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.
If you do not continue treatments, the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows will gradually look like they did before treatment.
Dermal Fillers FAQs
Dermal fillers restore volume to smooth wrinkles and soften facial lines. Dermal fillers can also be used to enhance facial features such as your lips, cheeks, and jawline by adding volume for fullness and definition.
There are some people in whom dermal fillers should not be used. At your initial consultation, it's important to tell your healthcare professional about all of your current and prior medical conditions and allergies and, how serious they are, all medications you are taking and whether you have had or are planning to have another aesthetic procedure (e.g., laser, chemical peel).
Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. Many dermal filler products contain an integrated local anesthetic, lidocaine, to provide you with a more comfortable treatment experience. You and your healthcare professional may decide whether additional pain relief is needed.
A treatment with dermal filler doesn't usually take long. A touch-up treatment is sometimes performed after the initial treatment to optimize your results. Talk to your healthcare professional to learn more about the treatment procedure.
Some minor swelling is expected after treatment. This is usually minor and resolves within a week. Some patients will also develop minor bruising that can usually be covered with makeup. Patients should avoid exercise for twenty-four hours after the procedure to minimize swelling. Otherwise, patients can resume work and normal activities.
The most common side effects include injection-related reactions such as swelling, bruising, redness, pain and tenderness. These effects generally disappear within one week after injection. Other potential side effects can occur. You should discuss the potential treatment risks with your healthcare professional.
